The creators of animated videos for Merge Mansion have left Metacore

The Finnish studio Piñata Games is no longer owned by Metacore. It announced that it has regained its independence.

Merge Mansion

Piñata Games is a small team specializing in creating art and animated videos for games. The studio opened in 2008 and has since collaborated with many companies, including Remedy, Housemarque, Supercell, Rovio, and Zynga. It became part of Metacore three years ago, after which it primarily focused on promotional visuals for the team’s flagship mobile puzzle game, Merge Mansion.

Now, Piñata Games plans to "return to its roots." Whether it has already secured any partnerships is not specified.

The terms on which Piñata Games left Metacore are also not disclosed.

A few months ago, Metacore itself became a subsidiary studio of the Finnish giant Supercell, amid which it conducted a restructuring. As part of the changes, it closed offices in Germany and Sweden and laid off 159 employees in Finland, despite the fact that before the sale, Metacore employed a total of 280 people across all its branches.
