Makers Fund has successfully raised $250 million to fuel the growth of startups specializing in gaming and interactive entertainment, boosting its total managed assets to $1.5 billion.

The firm, which began in 2016, initially garnered $180 million. It has since achieved a 3.6 times return on its investments. One noteworthy venture was into Dream Games, a Turkish mobile developer, which attained an approximate valuation of $5 billion following a strategic investment from CVC last year.

In 2022, the firm set a record with a $500 million funding round and is now focusing its fourth fund on supporting pioneering creators in the interactive entertainment arena. The scope of their investments has widened beyond gaming to include consumer applications and creative platforms.

Makers Fund's portfolio includes FaceIt, acquired by Savvy Gaming Group in 2022, as well as Voldex, a key player on the Roblox publishing scene last year.

Expanding into broader interactive entertainment, Makers Fund has also backed companies like PixAI, a generative AI platform, and Medal.tv, a game clipping service that is partnered with AI research entity General Intuition.

According to Jay Chi, a general partner, "Makers was established on the principle that creators remain central, even as their surroundings change." He described the fourth fund as an intensified commitment to this ethos, emphasizing the momentous potential of supporting companies amidst evolving user behaviors, distribution models, and technological advancements.

Michael Cheung, another general partner, highlighted, "As the industry progresses, so must we. Whether through equity, project financing, or marketing support, we aim to help our founders establish impactful, lasting companies."
