Alpha Dog Games, creator of Mighty Doom, is now functioning again as an independent entity following its closure by Microsoft earlier in 2024.

According to a statement provided to GamesIndustry.biz, Shawn Woods, a co-founder of Alpha Dog Games, mentioned that they have been focusing on enhancing the studio's technological and developmental aspects in recent months.

Woods expressed appreciation towards Microsoft for facilitating a smooth transition back to independent ownership for Alpha Dog Games.

"We are thrilled to regain control over the brand we painstakingly established," said Woods enthusedly.

Although Woods refrained from detailing future projects or strategies, he confirmed that the company is considering collaborations with various partners, publishers, and licensors.

He also shared that the recent surge in attention for Alpha Dog Games has surpassed their projections, highlighting the enduring significance of their games for the global player base.

"The community's enthusiasm has reminded us of how unique our gaming experiences are, and we are eager to see what lies ahead," Woods added.

Alpha Dog Games, established by Shawn Woods and Jeff Cameron, operates out of Nova Scotia and was established in 2012.

The studio became part of Bethesda in October 2019, a move carried out through an acquisition. Among the four Bethesda studios closed by Xbox, Alpha Dog Games was included alongside Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks, and Roundhouse.
