The creators of Splitgate and Empulse have laid off some employees

The studio 1047 Games is once again hit by a wave of layoffs — just a few weeks after the team shooter Empulse launched in early access. The exact number of employees affected by the layoffs is still unclear.

1047 Games has not publicly announced the layoffs, but former studio employees reported them on LinkedIn. The publication was noted by Insider Gaming. It is reported that among those who lost their jobs are the lead technical sound designer, an assistant producer, and several artists.

To recap, Empulse debuted on June 24, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Although the game received "mostly positive" (73%) reviews on Steam, its online presence was relatively low — peaking at only 2,860 players simultaneously on the Steam version, marking the worst result among 1047 Games' titles. It is possible that this less than successful launch of the shooter was a reason for the layoffs.

Previously, 1047 Games reduced personnel in June 2025. The exact number of employees laid off was not disclosed then either, but it was known to be small.
