Metacore, the developer behind Merge Mansion, has laid off 159 employees and has shut down its studios located in Germany and Sweden
Metacore, a mobile game studio, has announced the termination of 159 jobs in Finland and has shut down its offices in Germany and Sweden. The company's latest organizational changes stem from a stagnation in the growth of their game, Merge Mansion, over recent years. Despite previous investments, new games have not been launched.
Additionally, Supercell has disclosed plans to purchase Metacore, intending to incorporate Merge Mansion into its active game roster.
CEO Mika Tammenkoski commented on the conclusion of negotiations about these changes, having shared the outcomes with the company's staff recently.
"Making these decisions has been incredibly tough, recognizing the major impact on our team and an industry already facing challenges," Tammenkoski stated.
He further explained that to aid those laid off, the company is offering a comprehensive package. This includes fair severance benefits, permission to retain work devices, and extended healthcare and wellness services, alongside several measures designed to assist with career transitions.
"We are fully committed to aiding our colleagues in searching for new roles and maintaining that they would be valuable additions to any organization," Tammenkoski concluded.
