Digital Bros. has purchased the intellectual property rights for "Wuchang: Fallen Feathers" in a deal valued at $4.6 million
Digital Bros. has purchased the intellectual property rights for "Wuchang: Fallen Feathers" from its original creators, Chengdu Lingze Technology Co. Ltd, also recognized as Leenzee, for an estimated $4.6 million.
The acquisition comes after the game, published by Digital Bros.' subsidiary 505 Games, achieved sales of one million units, resulting in approximately $35.1 million in revenue. The company stated that obtaining full control over the title would improve their capacity to make prompt decisions concerning its further development and related financial inputs.
"This deal ensures complete ownership of the intellectual property for the Group," Digital Bros. mentioned in an announcement, highlighting it would allow them to keep all profits from the game's lifecycle, removing any future royalty commitments to the original developer.
They noted that the acquisition cost was RMB 32 million, roughly equivalent to €4 million, and it would be financed through existing credit resources of the company.
Furthermore, the company clarified that this procurement is not anticipated to majorly alter their previously communicated fiscal year business projections.
