Headup Games, known for publishing Super Meat Boy 3D, has been acquired by Reforged Studios. The specifics of the deal are not publicly available. Headup's personnel will remain unchanged, ensuring no layoffs occur due to this acquisition.

Reforged views this acquisition as a major strategic achievement, enhancing its platform to support independent developers more effectively. Headup will gain access to Reforged’s broader development and publishing resources.

The operations of Headup will continue under the guidance of its founder, Dieter Schoeller, who has been appointed chief publishing officer at Reforged. Schoeller will report to the founders of Reforged Studios.

Peter van der Watt, the CEO of Reforged Studios, noted, "Headup's curated portfolio is highly respected within independent publishing. Their understanding of developers and strong editorial direction fortifies our publishing capabilities and hastens our growth objectives."

He further emphasized that the acquisition aims to create a stable environment for independent creators, rather than mere expansion. Schoeller echoed this sentiment, stating that partnering with Reforged was more about aligning with people who truly comprehend the gaming industry, rather than just expanding.
