The terms of the deal have not been disclosed. However, it is known that all employees of Headup Games have retained their jobs, and the company will continue to publish games.

As stated by the founder and CEO of Headup Games, Dieter Schoeller, with the support of Reforged Studios, his team will be able to grow "without losing what makes it special." Meanwhile, Schoeller himself will not only continue to head up Headup Games but will also become the Publishing Director of Reforged Studios.

Headup Games is a German publisher founded in 2009. Since then, they have released games such as Industria, Laika: Aged Through Blood, Tinkertown, and the Bridge Constructor series, and are currently preparing to release Super Meat Boy 3D.

Reforged Studios is now the third owner of Headup Games. In 2021, the publisher became part of the Swedish holding company Thunderful Group, which acquired it for 11 million euros. Four years later, amid its own financial difficulties, Thunderful Group sold Headup Games for just 500,000 euros to Microcuts Holding, a company owned by Schoeller.

Reforged Studios positions itself as an organization that acquires successful game teams and helps them grow. Previously, it acquired Ground Shatter, Extra Mile Studios, and Yellow Lab Games.
