The collaboration between IOI Partners and Build a Rocket Boy (BARB) for publishing the game MindsEye has ended. From now on, BARB will independently handle all publishing duties for the game to maintain community engagement and partner relationships. Both companies are working together to make the transition smooth.

As the cooperation ceases, the anticipated crossover between Hitman and MindsEye is now off the table. Despite this change, BARB has expressed plans to pursue new partnerships for future projects.

This venture marked IO Interactive's initial foray into third-party publishing, assisting BARB with marketing, distribution, localization, and customer support—but not with financial backing—according to an interview with IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak in October 2024. Abrak stated the company remains dedicated to this and potential future partnerships without rapidly expanding their publishing scope.

Upon its debut, MindsEye met with critical reception due to various technical problems, influencing BARB's decision to pull scheduled sponsored streams. The company has since announced continued development in a bid to revamp the game.

In reaction to the underwhelming release, Abrak shared with IGN that the outcome was below expectations for both BARB and IOI Partners. He mentioned that efforts are being made to win back user confidence and capitalize on the game's potential for success in the forthcoming periods.

Recently, BARB confirmed additional layoffs during a challenging phase characterized by alleged espionage and corporate undercutting within the games market. CEO Mark Gerhard noted that these reductions were necessary to secure the company's future in light of these unprecedented hurdles and competitive pressures, acknowledging the leadership's responsibility for project outcomes during this tumultuous period.
