Google Play introduces the "buy once, play anywhere" feature for certain paid games
Google Play has unveiled a range of enhancements aimed at boosting the visibility and appeal of its games across PC and mobile platforms.
During the GDC Festival of Gaming, Google introduced its "buy once, play anywhere" initiative, which offers new paid games and trial versions to attract the 160 million users active on its You tab.
Starting today, the new pricing model allows gamers to purchase certain games once and play them on both mobile and PC. Titles such as Dungeon Clawler, OTTTD, and the Reigns series are included under this program.
Google addressed its users, explaining: "To make it easier for you to decide whether to purchase a game, we're introducing Game Trials. This feature allows you to experience the full version of a paid game at no cost. If you choose to buy it, your progress will be saved, enabling you to continue where you left off."
Initially available for a selection of paid mobile games, Game Trials will soon extend to Google Play Games for PC.
Furthermore, Google plans to enhance the ability for players to discuss game-related queries via Community Posts, currently limited to English and selected games. Support for additional languages and games is expected "soon."
