Epic Games has announced a price hike for Fortnite's virtual currency due to increased operational costs. These changes will be effective with the new battle royale season beginning on March 19, 2026, according to a blog post.

The adjustments will affect the V-Bucks packs as follows:

  • The $8.99 pack will now contain 800 V-Bucks, reduced from 1,000.
  • The $22.99 pack will offer 2,400 V-Bucks, down from 2,800.
  • The $36.99 pack will now give 4,500 V-Bucks instead of the previous 5,000.
  • The $89.99 pack will come with 12,500 V-Bucks, formerly 13,500.

Subscribers to the monthly Fortnite Crew plan will notice a shift from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks. Additionally, the main battle pass will no longer offer bonus currency but will see a price cut from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks. Prices for the OG, Lego, and Music game passes will also be lowered by 200 V-Bucks each, and an optional seasonal pass will become available.

This development coincides with Epic's recent resolution of its conflict with Google regarding app store fees, which have been reduced to 20%, as highlighted in a recent report. Epic launched the legal action back in 2020, leading to an antitrust trial initiated in 2023.
