Epic Games has raised the cost of Fortnite V-Bucks, citing a need to "help pay the bills"
Epic Games plans to increase prices for Fortnite's virtual currency, citing higher operating costs. Details on the adjustments were shared in a company blog post, indicating that these changes are set to occur with the new battle royale season beginning on March 19, 2026.
Key modifications involve the prices of V-Bucks bundles available to players:
- The $8.99 bundle will now provide 800 V-Bucks instead of the previous 1,000.
- The $22.99 option decreases from 2,800 to 2,400 V-Bucks.
- The $36.99 package will offer 4,500 V-Bucks, down from 5,000.
- The $89.99 bundle will see a reduction from 13,500 to 12,500 V-Bucks.
Subscribers of the Fortnite Crew plan will receive 800 V-Bucks, reduced from 1,000. Additionally, bonuses from the main battle pass will be discontinued, but the pass will now cost 800 V-Bucks, down from 1,000.
Three other game passes—OG, Lego, and Music—will each reduce in price by 200 V-Bucks. A new optional season pass will also be introduced.
This change comes after Epic resolved a dispute with Google regarding app store charges, with fees now lowered to 20%. Epic began its legal confrontation in 2020, leading to the start of the antitrust trial in 2023.
