The gaming company Cheer Games has announced the completion of a $4.5 million pre-seed funding round. The company, based in Barcelona and led by former leaders from Lion Studios at AppLovin, is known for creating Hexa Sort. The investment round was spearheaded by Makers Fund with participation from Play Ventures. This financial boost is intended to fast-track the development of new games and support the expansion of the Barcelona headquarters by bringing in additional international talent.
Currently, the company employs 11 individuals with significant experience in the mobile gaming sector and is planning to add new hires.
"When I think of Berkay, Kutay, and Ertan, I see individuals responsible for creating benchmark games in our industry who are now focused on future advancements," stated Emre Gercel, CEO and co-founder of Cheer Games.
Gercel highlighted Berkay's contribution to making Hexa Sort a leading game in its genre and pointed out how Kutay managed not only to scale games but also the infrastructure supporting such growth. He further credited Ertan for establishing two successful game studios from the ground up.
Emphasizing their long-term goals, Gercel said, "We started Cheer to create enduring entities beyond the typical transient approach seen in the industry. We aim to develop games that evolve into franchises and studios that become lasting entities. With our base in Barcelona and our ambitious Turkish heritage, I am fully confident in our team’s potential for success."
