The developers of Marathon have resolved the conflict with the artist from whom they borrowed part of the design

The terms they agreed on remain unknown.

The artist Fern Hook herself announced on social media that the conflict had been resolved. She did not provide details, only stating that Bungie and the Sony corporation, which owns the studio, settled the issue "to her satisfaction." It is likely that the artist received compensation, but without direct confirmation, this cannot be stated with certainty.

Recall that in May, Hook accused Bungie of using stylistic elements she developed in the upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, without her consent. Soon after, the studio admitted that the artist's works had indeed made their way into the game. According to Bungie, a former employee who was involved in the early stages of the project was to blame.

This is the second plagiarism scandal Bungie has settled in the past month. It was recently revealed that developers had reached an agreement with a writer who claimed that they had stolen the plot of his works for one of the campaigns in Destiny 2. The terms of their settlement were also not disclosed.

The release of Marathon is expected by the end of March 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
