Italian indie developer Stormind Games, recognized for its Remothered series, recently secured new investment to aid in the development of upcoming gaming titles. The studio has previously collaborated with 2K Games and Hangar 13 for the Mafia: The Old Country’s setting in Sicily.

The fresh funds are allocated to support a new game project associated with a Hollywood intellectual property, following their work on A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead with Saber Interactive, inspired by Paramount's film franchise. The studio’s portfolio also includes the indie game Batora: Lost Haven, in partnership with Team 17, expanding upon the success of the Remothered titles.

Antonio Cannata, the CEO, shared with GamesIndustry.biz his vision of growing the studio while preserving its unique Italian identity and independence. He aims to create groundbreaking projects that highlight Italian artistic heritage without succumbing to external investor pressures.

Cannata articulated a commitment to leveraging Italian cultural roots in their projects, while also ensuring the games appeal to an international market. The recent investment was spearheaded by Marsa Holding, a Southern Italy-focused family office, with backing from financial entities Intesa Sanpaolo and Mediocredito Centrale, culminating in Marsa Holding acquiring a 10% stake in Stormind Holding.

Cannata remarked, “This achievement significantly boosts Stormind Games’ expansion,” emphasizing that this collaboration will enhance their production capabilities and facilitate joint ventures with major industry publishers.
