Ubisoft has laid off part of its staff in the process of forming a joint subsidiary with Tencent
Ubisoft has experienced some minor layoffs. In a statement to the media, the company shared that it parted ways with nine employees as a result of restructuring, driven by the creation of a new subsidiary organization in collaboration with Tencent.

As explained by Ubisoft, it is currently transitioning some of its publishing and production teams from one project to another, but not all specialists have found places in the new departments. The company promises to provide all necessary support to the affected employees.
The current layoffs are reported to have mainly affected staff involved in game publishing.
In March 2025, it became known that Ubisoft decided to launch a new subsidiary. At that time, the company announced that 25% of the organization would be acquired by Tencent, which agreed to invest 1.16 billion euros. The established division will receive rights to three major franchises: Assassin’s Creed, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, and Far Cry.
Later, Ubisoft added that it plans to divide the entire company into so-called "creative houses" — they will have a high degree of autonomy and control various franchises. The aforementioned subsidiary is one such house.
