Microsoft is bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming (beta) to certain internet-enabled vehicles, allowing passengers to engage in gaming through the Xbox app. This development was announced in an Xbox Wire post on September 9, 2025, highlighting that cars featuring LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform will support this exciting feature.
To use Xbox Cloud Gaming in cars, users need a data plan, internet access, and a valid Game Pass Ultimate membership, along with a Bluetooth controller to play.
Chris Lee, Xbox's vice president of marketing, assured that gaming services in these vehicles are fully compliant with safety standards, meaning that gameplay is restricted to backseat passengers. The trailer for this feature shows screens located behind the front seats.
"Whether revisiting a classic title or exploring a new game, Xbox Cloud Gaming with LG Electronics enhances your car's entertainment system far beyond music and movies—it becomes a complete entertainment center," Lee stated. He added that this initiative follows Xbox's expansion into mobile devices, PCs, and televisions.
According to LG, their webOS-based ACP will provide streaming functionality in the newest European Kia models, including the Kia EV4, Kia EV5, and Kia New Sportage.
This platform was introduced with the Kia EV3, showcased by LG at the IAA Mobility event in Munich on September 8, 2025, where the Xbox Cloud Gaming feature was demonstrated.
The Chosun Daily (via VGC) reported that Eunseok Hyun, LG Electronics’ vehicle solution division leader, expressed during a September 9, 2025 conference that LG plans to integrate its ACP into "20 million vehicles cumulatively by 2030, aiming to lead in the SDV market."
