Shareholders of Thunderful Group have given the green light to a $5.3 million acquisition of Atari

The shareholders of Thunderful Group have approved a transaction that results in Atari securing a majority stake in the Swedish firm.

As of July 29, 2025, Atari revealed their entry into a subscription agreement with Thunderful to purchase around 82% of the company's shares. The transaction is valued at SEK 50 million, about $5.3 million, excluding associated expenses.

This acquisition was pending consent from Thunderful's shareholders.

On August 28, 2025, an extraordinary general meeting was held by Thunderful Group, during which the shareholders approved the deal.

The agreement involves Atari acquiring 333,333,334 shares of Thunderful Group at SEK 0.15 per share (approximately $0.02), with any excess beyond the quota value being added to the non-restricted share premium reserve.

The deal mandates execution by August 28, 2025, with cash payment for the shares expected within three business days.

This transaction makes Atari the leading shareholder in Thunderful Group, which includes development teams such as Coatsink, Early Morning Studio, Studio Fizbin, Thunderful Development, and To The Sky, along with publishers like Rising Star Games and Thunderful Publishing.

Recently, Atari also secured the intellectual property rights for five Ubisoft games: Cold Fear, I Am Alive, Child of Eden, Grow Home, and its sequel, Grow Up.

The company has expressed intentions to re-release these titles and is looking to broaden their reach on new platforms through "updated formats, new content, and extended distribution channels."
