Shareholders of Thunderful Group have given the green light to a $5.3 million acquisition of Atari

Atari has become the principal shareholder of the Thunderful Group, following a decision by the shareholders of the Swedish company.

On July 29, 2025, Atari disclosed a new agreement to secure roughly 82% of the shares in Thunderful Group. The transaction is valued at SEK 50 million, which equates to about $5.3 million, prior to any associated expenses.

This transaction required the support of Thunderful Group's shareholders. Consequently, an extraordinary general meeting was conducted by Thunderful Group on August 28, 2025, where shareholder approval was secured.

The acquisition entails Atari purchasing 333,333,334 shares of the company at a price of SEK 0.15 each (approximately $0.02). Any amount paid above the nominal value is to be added to the non-restricted share premium reserve.

The agreement is to be finalized by August 28, 2025, with payment due in cash within three business days.

With the completion of this transaction, Atari assumes a majority ownership in Thunderful Group. The group's portfolio includes development teams such as Coatsink, Early Morning Studio, Studio Fizbin, Thunderful Development, and To The Sky, alongside publishing labels Rising Star Games and Thunderful Publishing.

Moreover, Atari has gained the rights to five games previously owned by Ubisoft: Cold Fear, I Am Alive, Child of Eden, Grow Home, and Grow Up. They plan to reissue these games and seek ways to extend their availability, integrating "updated formats, new content, and extended distribution channels."
