Atari has acquired five games from Ubisoft

Atari has gained ownership of the intellectual property rights for a selection of games previously owned by Ubisoft. These titles include Cold Fear, I Am Alive, Child of Eden, Grow Home, and its continuation, Grow Up.
The announcement, made through a collaborative press release on August 26, 2025, detailed that both companies aim to provide engaging gaming experiences while maintaining the essence of the original games. For more details, see the report on Business Wire.
Atari intends to reintroduce these games by adapting them to contemporary platforms and new publishing approaches.
Deborah Papiernik, Ubisoft's vice president of New Business, stated, "These worlds are familiar to millions and have provided years of enjoyment. This venture allows long-standing fans to revisit fond memories, while inviting newcomers to explore these experiences for the first time."
She added that Atari's longstanding history and respect for these iconic games offer an opportunity for them to evolve and engage players in exciting, meaningful interactions.
Under Atari's publishing banner, these five games will be released again, with plans to introduce "updated formats, new content, and wider distribution channels" to expand their audience.
Atari's chairman and CEO, Wade Rosen, commented, "Our partnership draws on the strong tradition both companies have in creating captivating worlds. These games have made a mark across generations not just for their gameplay but for the emotional connections they offered."
"By reviving these games, we also anticipate discovering new ways to extend and develop these series," Rosen added.
Last month, Atari revealed an agreement to buy Thunderful Group in a transaction worth $5.2 million. This deal, contingent on the approval of Thunderful's shareholders, will be decided at a special meeting scheduled for later today. Further information can be found at this link.
