Sony is set to raise PS5 prices in the United States starting tomorrow as the company addresses a "challenging economic environment"
Starting August 21, the PlayStation 5 in the United States will see a price hike announced by Sony.
In a brief announcement on the PlayStation Blog coinciding with Gamescom, Sony stated that all models of the PS5 — including the base, digital, and PS5 Pro versions — would have revised prices as follows:
- PlayStation 5 – $549.99
- PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – $499.99
- PlayStation 5 Pro – $749.99
The previous prices for these models were $499.99, $449.99, and $699.99, respectively.
Sony commented, "As with many international companies, we are dealing with a tough economic landscape, leading us to make this hard decision to raise the suggested retail price for PlayStation 5 consoles in the U.S. beginning August 21."
Meanwhile, accessory prices remain stable, and Sony noted there were "no further price adjustments to disclose for other regions."
Additionally, Forza Horizon 5 for the PS5 has exceeded three million sales, establishing it as 2025's leading new PS5 title so far.
