Sony is acquiring a stake in Bandai Namco for $464 million

The Sony Corporation has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with Bandai Namco Holdings. Under this deal, it will acquire 16 million shares of the holding company, paying 68 billion yen ($464.5 million) for them.

This means Sony will own 2.5% of Bandai Namco. According to the information available on the holding's website, as of March 31, 2025, only four shareholders controlled a larger stake, three of whom are various banks.

The companies have announced plans to collaborate more actively across various fields, from games to anime. Special emphasis will be placed on anime, along with manga. In particular, Sony will assist Bandai Namco in creating and distributing content, while also providing access to its technologies.
