Currently, more shares of Square Enix are owned only by its co-founder, Yasuhiro Fukushima, who holds 20%.
The first news of 3D Investment Partners' investment in Square Enix emerged at the end of April when the fund gained control of 5.47% of the company. In its report, it stated that its objective was "pure investment" as well as providing advice to Square Enix's management.
Notably, 3D Investment Partners is considered an activist investor. They typically buy stocks to push for business changes. However, as noted by Kantan Games analyst Serkan Toto remarked, the Singaporean fund has not previously made game-related investments, so it is unlikely to propose significant business improvements to Square Enix.
Since the end of April, the value of Square Enix's shares has increased by more than 36%
