The creators of the cyberpunk shooter DEFECT received investments from NCSOFT
The company NCSOFT has decided to support emptyvessel — a studio founded last year by veterans of id Software, Naughty Dog, Activision Blizzard, and several other prestigious teams. Recently, NCSOFT became its strategic investor.
DEFECT
The amount of NCSOFT's investment is not disclosed in the official press release. However, the document outlines some of the terms of the deal. Among them are:
- The funds received will be used by the studio to develop the cyberpunk shooter DEFECT. The game's release date is still unknown;
- NCSOFT and emptyvessel have become long-term partners;
- In the future, the parties will discuss transferring the publishing rights of DEFECT to NCSOFT.
This is not the first investment for emptyvessel. In the spring of 2024, the studio raised an undisclosed amount in a seed round from Sisu Game Ventures, Raptor Group, and several other investors.
