Tencent increases its stake in Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware

Tencent has bolstered its ownership in Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware, by adding another 1.11% to its holdings, bringing its total stake to 7.97%.

According to Nikkei, the increase is linked to a "capital business alliance" between Tencent and Kadokawa.

This move places Tencent's stake within two percentage points of Sony's holdings, which had ascended to 10% in December of the previous year, positioning Sony as the largest stakeholder of Kadokawa.

Kadokawa had previously announced a "strategic capital and business alliance agreement," resulting in Sony purchasing over 12 million new shares of the company on January 7, 2025, for approximately ¥50 billion, or $318 million.
