KCD2 hits 1 million copies sold in 24 hours: how it compares to first game

After gaining momentum ahead of launch, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II hits its first sales milestone. Here is how it compares to the first game’s figures.

On February 4, Warhorse Studios announced that Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has sold 1 million copies globally. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, but it is unclear how the figures are split between platforms.

“Over a million of you have stepped into our world,” the studio said in a statement. “We’re beyond grateful for your support — thank you for making KCD2 a triumph!”

It took the Kingdom Come sequel around 24 hours to reach this impressive milestone. This indicates strong pre-orders for the game, which has been climbing the charts for the past several weeks. KCD2 became the top-grossing premium title on Steam for the week of January 28-February 4, trailing only Counter-Strike overall.

With 1 million copies sold at launch, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is already outpacing Warhorse’s previous RPG. Below are the key sales milestone for the first game:

  • 500k copies — in two days;
  • 1 million copies — in two weeks;
  • 2 million copies — a year after launch (February 2019);
  • 3 million copies — two years and four months after launch (June 2020);
  • 4 million copies — three years and nine months after launch (November 2021);
  • 5 million copies — four years and four months after launch (June 2022);
  • 6 million copies — six years after launch (February 2024);
  • 8 million copies — six and a half years after launch (November 2024).

Launched on February 4, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has already peaked at over 159k concurrent players on Steam. Given the initial sales momentum, player interest, and warm reception, it has every chance of becoming one of the biggest releases of 2024 by a variety of metrics.
