BioWare has reassigned some of its staff to Electronic Arts projects as part of a restructuring effort
On January 29th, BioWare's General Manager Gary McKay announced internal changes. According to him, the studio has decided to focus on developing a single project instead of multiple ones — this will be the next title in the Mass Effect franchise.

McKay explained that due to this focus, BioWare currently does not need such a large number of developers. Therefore, a portion of them has been allocated to other divisions of their parent company, Electronic Arts. "At this stage, we do not require support from the entire studio," the director added. He did not disclose the exact number of employees transferred.
Among other things, McKay confirmed in his statement that veterans from the original trilogy have joined the team working on the new action RPG. This includes Game Director Michael Gamble, Lead Designer Preston Watamaniuk, Art Director Derek Watts, and Creative Director Parrish Ley.
IGN reported that as part of the company's new strategy, "some members of the Dragon Age team" lost their previous positions. However, they were offered vacant positions in other BioWare projects if they wished. At least a few game designers, writers, and editors from the Dragon Age series lost their jobs, according to their posts on Bluesky.
It should be noted that in January, it became known that the Game Director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Corinne Busche, might leave BioWare. A month earlier — in December 2024 — writer Sylvia Feketekuty announced her departure.
