The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. However, it is known that as part of the agreement, PlayFusion will now be assisting with the support of key projects for Build A Rocket Boy, including:
- the open-world sandbox, Everywhere;
- the AAA game available exclusively within it — MindsEye;
- and an integrated set of tools for creating UGC games, ARCADIA.
In addition, there are changes in the management team: Mark Gerhard, who held a similar position at PlayFusion, will become the second CEO of Build A Rocket Boy. He will work alongside the studio's founder and former president of Rockstar North, Leslie Benzies.
It is noteworthy that at the beginning of 2024, Build A Rocket Boy secured $110 million in investments from NetEase and several other companies. These funds were intended to be used for the development of the aforementioned projects.
PlayFusion was founded in 2015 by former developers of RuneScape. Initially, it positioned itself as a studio focusing on AR game development. Currently, PlayFusion is working on its own 80s-themed tactical shooter, Ascendant Infinity.
