Tencent has secured a majority stake in the Chinese game developer Kuro Games.

According to information from Gematsu, the company obtained a 37% share from Hero Entertainment, leading to a total ownership of 51.4% for an undisclosed price.

This transaction positions Tencent as the sole external stakeholder in Kuro Games.

In a company memo, Kuro Games emphasized that although Tencent now has the largest share, "the developer's strategy of maintaining independent operations will remain unchanged."

Tencent began its investment in Kuro Games in 2023, whereas Hero Entertainment has been backing the studio since 2018.

Kuro Games, established in 2014, recently released their newest game, Wuthering Waves, in May 2024.
