Roblox plans to permit developers to sell premium games, offering them a revenue share of up to 70%

Roblox has revealed plans to add premium games to its offerings, with developers potentially receiving up to 70% of the earnings from these games.

At the 10th annual Roblox Developers Conference in San Francisco, CEO and co-founder David Baszucki announced that developers would retain between 50% and 70% of the income from their games when transacted with actual currency. Currently, developers reportedly obtain about 30% of the earnings from in-game currency purchases, according to The Verge. The premium games are set to debut on PC by the end of the year, with future expansions to other platforms contemplated.

Baszucki further mentioned that Roblox aims to reach one billion daily active users (DAU) and envisions a future where 10% of global gaming content spending occurs within the Roblox platform. He stated, "We believe that 10% of all gaming content revenue worldwide will flow through the Roblox ecosystem and be distributed within our Roblox community."

As of June 30, 2024, the global daily user count on Roblox is 79.5 million. Among these, 58% are users aged 13 or above, a demographic that saw a 26% increase in the second quarter of the fiscal year.
