First Break Labs, a new firm focused on indie publishing and investment, has been established
Veterans from Nintendo and Sega have launched a new venture, First Break Labs, dedicated to assisting indie game developers in making a mark in the gaming world.
This new firm intends to offer financial backing and promotional support to partner studios, leveraging the extensive industry experience of its founders. The team's background encompasses more than two decades of work on a variety of games, from indie projects to major AAA releases.
Alfonso Cubias, who holds the position of chief publishing officer, previously served as head of product marketing at Sega for over five years. His professional journey also includes high-level marketing roles at both Digital Extremes and SmileGate.
Derek Seklecki, co-founder and marketing head, brings a wealth of experience from his nearly five years in marketing at Sega and over four years as a bilingual product specialist at Nintendo.
In conjunction with today's announcement, First Break Labs has disclosed the first four games on its roster.
The titles are Entropy Survivors, a bullet hell roguelike from Moving Pieces Interactive; Warside, a turn-based strategy game by Lavabird; Baseless, a gravity-focused side-scrolling shooter developed by Fermenter Games; and Particle Hearts, a third-person adventure from Underwater Fire.
"We are excited to introduce a lineup of exceptionally talented developers who are busy crafting the next wave of gaming brilliance," Seklecki stated. "We eagerly anticipate sharing their upcoming masterpieces with the world and have additional outstanding titles to announce in the future, so stay tuned."
Cubias remarked: "First Break Labs is committed to empowering indie game creators. Independent studios are often the source of the most groundbreaking and imaginative gaming ideas. Our purpose is to offer them the tools and backing they require to realize their creative visions and reach audiences worldwide."
