The Games Fund has invested $2 million in the development of the horror Displacement from the Obelisk Studio outsourcing team

Despite the difficult time for the industry, investments in game studios continue to flow. The venture fund The Games Fund has announced a deal with Obelisk Studio. The latter received $2 million to develop the first independent product, the AA horror Displacement.

The details of the transaction are not specified. From the available information, it is only clear that we are talking about the start-up capital, which has already helped the Cyprus-based studio build infrastructure, hire key personnel and launch production.

It is stated that the team that deals with Displacement is now being strengthened by top developers who previously held key positions on the Pioneer project. This is a shooter from the Moscow studio GFAGames, its release is scheduled for this year.

Obelisk Studio is far from a newcomer to the market. According to the official website, the studio, as an outsourcer, managed to participate in the creation of visual content for games such as Sons of the Forest, Dota 2, Call of Duty Vanguard, Fallout 76, and also made models for the second episode of the third season of Love, Dearth and Robots, which was directed by David Fincher.

According to the press release, Obelisk Studio is now moving from outsourcing to working on its own games.

There are very few details directly about Displacement yet. It is only known that it will be "a psychological action horror exploring the dark side of the human soul in an atmosphere of isolation and madness, as well as seasoned with intense brutal hand-to-hand fighting." The game has been under development since 2022.
