ByteDance is trying to sell its games and other gaming assets. According to the Chinese publication LatePost, she is negotiating their sale with several companies. Tencent is on the list of potential buyers.

A representative of ByteDance, in a comment to another Chinese edition of the South China Morning Post, confirmed the fact of the negotiations. He did not say which companies besides Tencent ByteDance communicates with and what conditions it puts forward, but noted that an agreement with Tencent has not yet been reached.

LatePost sources claim that ByteDance is ready to sell the games at a big discount. According to their information, the company offers to buy titles at a price that is significantly lower than the amount spent on development. Nevertheless, potential buyers are doubtful. In their opinion, the price remains quite high, in addition, at least some of the games require constant investments in development.

According to LatePost, among the games sold by ByteDance are the steampunk MMORPG Crystal of Atlan and the post-apocalyptic shooter Earth: Revival. Earlier it was also reported that ByteDance is looking for buyers for Moonton Studio, the developer of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

Tencent declined to comment to the media about the negotiations with ByteDance.

ByteDance began restructuring its gaming division at the end of last year. DingjiaoOne estimates that between 2019 and 2022, ByteDance spent about ¥30 billion ($4.2 billion) on investments in games, but was unable to recoup the costs.
