Keywords Studios bought outsourcers Mortal Kombat 1 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III for $97 million

Keywords Studios has made its fourth purchase in a year. The Multiplayer Group studio, specializing in the outsourcing development of multiplayer games, became part of the group of companies.

Previously, The Multiplayer Group was owned by Improbable, a company that develops the SpatialOS cloud platform. In a comment to VentureBeat, Improbable said that she sold the studio because she decided to pay more attention to the metaverse, artificial intelligence and Web3.

Keywords Studios gave £76.5 million ($97.1 million) for the purchase of the studio. Under the terms of the deal, the heads of The Multiplayer Group will retain their positions.

Keywords Studios notes that The Multiplayer Group has a "strong gaming portfolio." Since its foundation in 2018, the studio has managed to participate in the development of titles such as Apex Legends, Overwatch 2, Fall Guys, Sea of Thieves, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and III, Mortal Kombat 1 and Starfield.

According to the group's estimates, in 2024, the revenue of The Multiplayer Group should grow by a double-digit percentage.

Earlier in 2023, Keywords Studios bought Hardsuit Labs, Digital Media Management and 47 Communications.
