In New Zealand, the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard was approved
The antimonopoly regulator of New Zealand announced that it does not object to the sale of Activision Blizzard to Microsoft.
The regulator acknowledged that Activision Blizzard games, including Call of Duty, are popular in New Zealand. Nevertheless, he believes that their joining the Microsoft portfolio will not significantly harm competition in the local gaming market.
Earlier, the New Zealand regulator expressed concern that the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard could have a bad impact on the cloud gaming market. Additional verification of the transaction convinced him that this would not happen.
Microsoft President Brad Smith pointed out on Twitter that New Zealand was the 41st country to approve the deal.
