The UK has temporarily banned Microsoft and Activision Blizzard from buying shares in each other without its consent
The British regulator has imposed another ban on Microsoft and Activision Blizzard. Now companies cannot invest in each other without obtaining the written consent of the department.
The new restriction also applies to subsidiaries of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard. While the ban is in effect, Microsoft cannot acquire shares in Activision, Blizzard, King and any other organizations owned by the publisher without the consent of the regulator. The same goes for Activision Blizzard.
The regulator stressed that this is a temporary ban, but it is not specified when exactly it will cease to operate.
