The Steam client has received a big update. It has become more convenient to manage downloads and storage

Today Valve has introduced a big update for Steam, previously available as part of the beta test. The main innovations are the improved download manager and the storage management process. Games from the library are now easier to move between folders and drives.Key changes

The overall download progress now takes into account the time required to allocate disk space — previously Steam showed only the percentage of downloads.

  • The download queue can now be controlled by simply dragging games with the mouse.
  • If an update has been released for a game that affects not only the game content, an icon (!) will appear next to its name in the library. Clicking on it will open a tooltip with information about all types of content included in the update.

  • When you click on the “View News” button, the user will see a list of notes to the latest patches for a particular game.
  • The “Storage Management” item, accessible from the “Steam Library Folders” submenu in the downloads settings, has received an improved interface.
  • This simplified the library management process and made it easier to move games between different drives.Reduced CPU load when using the Steam Input function (allows you to connect controllers and use them in games).

  • Valve also fixed a number of bugs and made changes to the Steam client on Linux and macOS.
