SciPlay bought the Finnish studio Koukoi Games — the authors of the runner Om Nom: Run
Developer and publisher of mobile games SciPlay has announced the takeover of a third studio. It includes the Finnish Koukoi Games, known for the runner about Am Nyama. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
The Koukoi Games team will develop the concept of a new casual game.
“The strengths of the Koukoi team are perfectly matched with the strengths of SciPlay, and we are pleased to welcome her to our company,” said Josh Wilson, CEO of SciPlay. “Together we will be able to create high-quality evergreen casual games, which corresponds to our strategy of product and revenue diversification.”
Koukoi Games was founded in 2015 in Oulu. She released her most high-profile game Om Nom: Run last January. In a year and a half since its release, the title has collected over 30 million downloads.
The Finnish studio became the third purchase for SciPlay. In April 2017, the company bought Spicerack, and in June 2020 — Come2Play. The value of both transactions was not disclosed.
SciPlay itself specializes mainly in social casinos. She has such games as Bingo Showdown, Gold Fish Casino, Hot Shot Casino and Quick Hit Slots on her account. Until 2019, SciPlay was a division of Scientific Games, but then became its subsidiary.
