Atomic Heart developers have received investments from Tencent and Gaijin Entertainment
Yesterday, the Moscow studio Mundfish attracted investments from three large companies at once: Tencent, Gaijin Entertainment and GEM Capital. Also, the authors of Atomic Heart are looking for new specialists to join their team.
The successful closing of the funding round was announced by the Wccftech portal with reference to the developers’ press release. Mundfish did not disclose either the amount of the collected investments or other terms of the transaction.
In a comment for RBC, Vladislav Zdorenko, co-founder of the venture capital company Startech.vc, suggested that the studio could raise $ 10-15 million, taking into account the capitalization of $ 35-45 million. Ilya Karpinsky, Director of Strategic development at MY.GAMES, also noted there — “players like Tencent” usually do not invest less than $10 million.
Officially, it is only known that Tencent became the leader of the round, and Gaijin and GEM Capital provided the studio with additional funds. Note that the last two companies have previously invested in the development of Atomic Heart.
This deal will help us move towards the release faster. Tencent operates one of the most popular gaming platforms in the world, and we are glad to see them among our investors. After meeting with Anton Yudintsev (head of Gaijin) and our partners from GEM Capital, we were pleased to realize that our business methods and corporate culture perfectly match. Now we can say with confidence that Tencent shares our corporate values and long-term goals. Our goal is to turn Atomic Heart into a global gaming franchise, and new resources will help us work with even more talented people.
