Fortnite reached a new peak online during the event featuring Galactus and Iron Man
Last night in Fortnite, a large-scale event featuring Galactus, a character from the Marvel universe, took place. More than 15.3 million players gathered simultaneously for the battle with the "Devourer of Worlds." This set a new record for concurrent players in the battle royale.
The previous peak in concurrent players for Fortnite was in April 2020, when Epic Games organized a virtual concert by the rapper Travis Scott, attended by around 12.3 million people.
The new event attracted an audience beyond the battle royale itself. An additional 3.4 million viewers on YouTube and Twitch tuned in to watch millions of players, led by Iron Man, battle Galactus.
The event lasted about ten minutes. During this time, a crossover show unfolded before gamers, where Marvel characters interacted with the Fortnite game world. Alongside Tony Stark and Galactus, Thor and Wolverine also made appearances.
The crossovers in Fortnite are not ending with this event. According to the game's official Twitter, the next season will feature journeys with hunters from different worlds. Among others, players will be able to meet The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda from the Star Wars universe.
