The new Sony PlayStation received a name and release date
The next console from Sony has received an official name and release date. As expected, it was named PlayStation 5. The novelty will be on the market at the end of 2020.
All this, including new details, is reported by the WIRED portal. The information came from Sony Interactive Entertainment, more precisely, from its CEO Jim Ryan. So this data is official.
What new features will the PS5 have?
- SSD hard drive (the information for April of this year was confirmed). Inside Sony, the SSD was called the main advantage of the new console — the “key to the next generation”, since with it the loading of game locations will be much faster.
- Customizable installation of games. The player will be able to choose whether he wants to play a story campaign, co-op or multiplayer. If desired, he can delete, for example, a cooperative, but leave a single-player campaign. Or do not install multiplayer at all.
- Real-time updated UI. The player will be notified of events in which he can participate right now (with information about the rewards for completing) or in which his friends participate. He will be able to instantly connect to a multiplayer match with his friend.
- Optical disks for physical copies of games. These disks will hold up to 100 GB of data. In addition, unlike the PS4, the new console will support Blu-Ray 4K.
- Hardware ray tracing.New gamepads — similar to DualShock 4, but improved.
- The sensations of shooting will now depend on the strength of pressing the corresponding buttons. We also worked on vibration: the player, according to WIRED, will be able to feel the resistance of virtual water or the vibrations of a wooden bridge when jogging. The new controllers will be charged via USB Type-C.
We add that a game from Bluepoint, the authors of Shadow of the Colossus, was announced for the PS5. According to the head of the studio, the new game will be the largest in their portfolio.
