Supercell invested $5 million in indie studio Redemption Games

The first investment of the Finnish Supercell in the American gaming market was the Redemption Games studio.

Redemption Games was founded in 2015 by Michael Witz and Dan Lin. They specialize in casual three-in-a-row games.

The couple’s previous startup, Mob Science, was bought by SGN (now Jam City) in 2013. After that, Witz and Lin were the lead developers of Cookie Jam, one of the most successful titles of Jam Games, and then founded a new studio.

Cookie JamRedemption Games does not have its own games yet, but the studio has been working with Scopely projects, publishers of The Walking Dead: Road to Survival, almost from the very beginning.

Redemption Games is already the fifth investment of Supercell, the authors of the super-profitable Clash of Clans, Clash Royale and Brawl Stars. All previous purchases were on the European market: the company became a minority shareholder of Frogmind, Shipyard Games and Trailmix, and also acquired a large stake in Space Ape Games.
