Take-Two bought the Kerbal Space Program space simulator
The American publisher Take-Two Interactive Software has acquired the rights to the educational space simulator Kerbal Space Program.
“We see in the Kerbal Space Program a new long-term franchise that will replenish the portfolio of Take-Two titles. This is part of our strategy to find promising projects among independent developers,” said Michael Worosz, head of corporate development and independent publisher Take—Two Interactive.
The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
Support and further development of the game will be provided by the Squad studio, the creator of the original Kerbal Space Program. In March Squad they announced the release of the supplement Kerbal Space Program: Making History Expansion.
The Kerbal Space Program is a hybrid of a space simulator and an aerospace engineering designer.
The game implements a plausible physical model of the behavior of ships in space and the atmosphere, thanks to which the Kerbal Space Program is used in the educational program of a number of American schools.
Since the release of the game in April 2015, more than 2 million copies have been sold worldwide.
