Zynga bought mobile solitaire from a little-known developer for $42.5 million

The American company Zynga has acquired the rights to four versions of the solitaire card game for mobile devices from a relatively unknown developer Harpan LLC. The transaction amount was $42.5 million.

It is difficult to find information about Harpan LLC — the developer’s website is unavailable, and the information on social media accounts has not been updated for several years. It looks like the company is represented by one person.

Nevertheless, Solitaire Solitaire by Harpan occupied the 6th position in the US App Store chart, and now it is on the 51st place in terms of the total number of downloads of the application.

Zynga has financial assets of $850 million. Investing in the purchase of solitaire from Harpan LLC is part of the company’s strategy to develop “eternal franchises” — mobile versions of classic games such as poker and word puzzles.
