Gameloft founders sell their stake to Vivendi
After Vivendi managed to seize a controlling stake in Gameloft during a hostile takeover, the family of the company’s founder announced the sale of its shares.
Recall that at the end of May Vivendi managed to bring its stake in Gameloft to about 56%. This was opposed from the very beginning by the Guillemot family, which founded the latter and owns 21.7% of it.
Now that Vivendi has gained control of the company, Guillemot is leaving the company.
“The family continues to insist that Vivendi’s hostile actions are contrary to Gameloft’s interests,” Guillemot said in a statement. They also note that they regret to sell most of their Vivendi shares.
Gameloft is currently valued at €700 million.
On June 29, Vivendi will name those who will join the new board of directors of the French company.
According to rumors, Vivendi plans to close the Polish division of Gameloft.
