Microsoft has bought the developers of the Havok Physics engine
Microsoft Corporation acquired Havok, the developers of the engine of the same name. A message about this appeared on the official Microsoft blog.
From September 2007 to the present, Havok has been owned by Intel Corporation. Details of the transaction were not disclosed. Microsoft representatives in the company’s blog commented on the acquisition: “We are confident that Havok will perfectly complement the existing list of Microsoft platforms and tools, which includes DirectX 12, Visual Studio and Microsoft Azure.”
The corporation will also continue to develop its own cloud service, Microsoft representatives noted.
Havok Studio specializes in the development of software and services for creating games, special effects, and so on. In March 2013, the company introduced a free mobile game engine, Project Anarchy.
