Sales of the indie horror game R.E.P.O might have exceeded 3 million copies, with revenue reaching $25 million
On February 26, the Swedish indie studio semiwork released its new game — the cooperative horror R.E.P.O — in Steam Early Access. According to analytical services, it has become a big hit.
R.E.P.O
If we trust Gamalytic's calculations, in just under three weeks, R.E.P.O. sold 3.1 million copies. The game's gross revenue was estimated by the service to be $25.5 million — this is an average figure, and overall, Gamalytic believes that R.E.P.O.'s earnings could fluctuate between $5.1 million and $46 million.
According to Gamalytic, 29.2% of R.E.P.O.'s audience comes from the United States. Another 9.8% of players are from Russia, and 4.2% from Canada.
The VG Insights service calculated R.E.P.O.'s metrics differently, resulting in much lower figures. According to their data, to date, Steam users have purchased R.E.P.O. 1.5 million times, resulting in gross horror revenue of about $10.7 million.
The developers at semiwork have not officially disclosed R.E.P.O.'s sales, so it is unknown which data is closer to reality. In any case, for an indie game, R.E.P.O. has performed excellently. It's worth noting that it has twice made it into the top-5 weekly chart of best-selling games on Steam, and it is possible that it will again enter, if not the top-5, then at least the top-20 by the end of the latest week.
Currently, R.E.P.O. has an "extremely positive" rating on Steam. The horror game has received over 31,000 reviews, of which 96% are positive. Over the weekend, the game broke its peak online record on the platform after drawing in 230,645 people simultaneously. For comparison, the previous game by semiwork — the "action-roguelike" Voidigo — peaked at just 626 players.

It is anticipated that R.E.P.O. will remain in early access for six months to a year. Semiwork will announce the exact date closer to release.
