Former employees of Rovio and Nokia have launched a new game studio
In the Finnish city of Oulu, people from Rovio and Nokia have organized an independent studio for the development of mobile games – Koukoi Games.
At the moment they are working on two projects, one of which should appear this summer.
The team plans to offer the market “exciting memorable games” and compete with the market leaders.
The use of the name of one of the heroes of “Kalevala” in the company’s name, according to the developers, demonstrates their pride “for their roots and past.” However, Koukoi Games does not specify whether it is worth waiting for Karelian myths in their games.
Editor’s note: The size of the company, according to its Linkedin profile, ranges from 1 to 10 people. The only public figure – and part-time executive director – of Koukoi Games is Antti Kananen, a native of Elisa Videra, one of the divisions of the Finnish telecommunications company. Who exactly of the employees of the new studio previously worked at Rovio and Nokia is not known, how, however, and who these people are.
We mean that usually, if statements of a similar nature are made (for example, former employees of company N work for us), then, as a rule, their names are mentioned.
And, of course, we can’t help but mention one more point. Over the past couple of weeks, this is the third gaming startup that has opened in Finland. Last week, it became known about the launch of Futureplay Games by the former head of the Rovio gaming division and the launch of Futurefly by the former head of the trademark development department at Remedy Entertainment.
