Former employees of Disney Interactive have created a gaming charity startup
Former employees of Disney Interactive have teamed up to create a gaming startup Zig Zag Zoom, which “combines fun and charity.”
How does it work? Studio Zig Zag Zoom releases games. When a user plays them, points are credited to his conditional account, which are equivalent to real money. Using mobiliz3’s own startup platform, they can be used to finance one of several charitable initiatives. These are tree planting, medical research, educational initiatives, and so on.
In one of the company’s games, you can plant a tree, watch it grow for a couple of days, and then plant it in a virtual forest. After you’ve done that, ACTrees will do the same thing, only in the real world. It is a partner of Zig Zag Zoom, a non-profit organization for the greening of the planet.
Zig Zag Zoom has several similar games of its own, and several from third-party developers who also participate in the initiative.
“The longer you play the game, the more action points you have. You can spend these points on the things that are important to you. That’s right, but since we’re also an entertainment company, it’s also fun,” said Zig Zag Zoom CEO Thomas Kang.”
