PopCap breaks up with employees

The studio that created Plants vs. Zombies, Peggle and Bejeweled has laid off 30 employees.

As stated by the current CEO of PopCap, John Vechey:

“The changes we made today in PopCap were painful and we are very sorry to lose some of our friends and colleagues. But the changes were necessary to continue working in the direction we chose (mobile games, live services and the creation of new IP).”

This is not the first scandal in 2014 related to PopCap. Last January, the studio, now owned by EA, was left by former CEO Dave Roberts and chief game designer Jason Kapalka.
