The developer of Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 plans to lay off a quarter of its staff

The British studio Auroch Digital announced a restructuring, under which about 25% of the staff may be laid off. The decision was made 12 days after the release of Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 and shortly before the studio's next game, Warhammer Survivors, is set to launch.

In a statement dated October 26, Auroch Digital announced it has begun consultations on cutting approximately a quarter of its workforce. The final number of layoffs has not yet been determined.

According to the studio's management, the restructuring is due to challenging conditions in the gaming market. However, they emphasized that the company's recent projects — Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 and Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! — have received positive feedback from players.

"Despite this creative success, the market conditions that many of our industry peers are facing have affected us as well," said the Auroch Digital statement.

The company promised to support the employees affected by the restructuring and urged other gaming studios to consider hiring them.

Meanwhile, Auroch Digital assured that it will continue to work on Warhammer Survivors and provide post-release support for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2. Notably, the latter was released on October 14, 2026, with the release of Warhammer Survivors scheduled for November 10.

Auroch Digital was founded in 2010 in Bristol, UK. According to its official website, about 100 developers work for the studio. In 2021, it was acquired by Sumo Group for 6 million pounds (approximately 8.3 million dollars at the time). In 2025, Auroch Digital came under the control of Roundtable Interactive Group.
